Virgin Voyages has revealed that agents will be able to earn commission on all parts of a booking.

First Mates – as the line refers to agents – will earn across an transaction, including all add-ons such as flights, hotel stays, voyage protection, shore excursions, spa treatments, premium packages, and taxes and fees.

The line, which goes on sale on 14 February, is introducing a base commission of 10 per cent on the entire transaction.

Virgin Voyages CEO and president Tom McAlpin said: “You asked us to work with you to build a strong partnership, so we’re excited to announce one of the most rewarding travel partner programmes ever created.

“We are committed to delivering an ‘Epic Sea Change’ by getting rid of the things that annoy you and offering incredible value and experiences for your clients.”

Virgin Voyages vice president of sales Stacy Shaw said: “While the debate is often about this per cent versus that one, the underlying issue travel professionals have is not being compensated for their hard work on the entire sale. With Virgin Voyages you will be.”

Virgin Voyages is hosting a learning campaign beginning 6 February, called Cabin Fever, which will help First Mates learn about cabins and RockStar suites on its first ship, Scarlet Lady.
