Virgin Voyages: New itineraries released but Brilliant Lady delayed

Virgin Voyages, Brilliant Lady

Virgin Voyages has added 19 new ports and 27 new itineraries, sailing through to April 2025.

The announcement came at the same time as the line revealing the postponement of the launch of its fourth vessel, Brilliant Lady.

The new itineraries include a series of voyages from Portsmouth, as well as new ports of call in Australia and the Caribbean.

Virgin Voyages ‘listening’ to feedback

Cruises from Portsmouth on Resilient Lady will start in mid-August 2024 and run through to September.

Overall, the line will now offer a total of 63 itineraries, including the Seachange Series, which are described as “reimagined repositioning voyages” to offer more opportunities for guests to extend their holidays.

Virgin Voyages vice-president of UK and international sales Shane Riley said: “In the last year alone, our repeat sailor rates have tripled.

“What’s even better is these loyal travellers want more – so we’ve listened.

“We’re thrilled to announce more than two dozen new itineraries featuring incredible experiences that will let these discerning holidaymakers enjoy destinations that may be familiar, in a completely different way – the Virgin way.”

Brilliant Lady delay

The delay of Brilliant Lady is because of “unexpected construction, supply chain and staffing challenges”, a statement said.

The ship was set to begin passenger operations at the end of this year. The line said it is “evaluating new possible launch dates”.

Riley added: “We launched Virgin Voyages in the UK two years ago and have since taken the industry by storm, but even the strongest businesses face unforeseen challenges every now and then.

“We are sorry that our sailors who were excited about Brilliant Lady will have to wait a little bit longer, but we know they’ll love the itineraries as much as we do.”
