Viking Saigon, the latest ship in the Viking river fleet, has started its inaugural season in Southeast Asia.
Purpose-built for the Mekong, the 80-guest vessel is sailing between Kampong Cham, Cambodia and Mỹ Tho, Vietnam, as part of Viking’s 15-day Magnificent Mekong itinerary.
Regular sailing dates are available through to March 2023. The 2023-2024 season will begin in July 2023.
The itinerary includes 16 guided tours. Hotel stays in Hanoi, Siem Reap and Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) are combined with an eight-day Mekong voyage.
Viking continues fleet expansion
Viking Saigon features the traditional Scandinavian design that the line is known for, with all staterooms including hotel-style beds and floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors with a veranda or French balcony.
Guests can also use the spa and fitness centre, infinity pool and the open-air Sky Bar on the upper deck.
Chairman Torstein Hagen said: “The fascinating cultures of Vietnam and Cambodia have always made this region a favourite destination among our guests.
“We are also pleased to welcome back to Southeast Asia our first guests since early 2020. With arrival of the Viking Saigon, we look forward to introducing even more curious travellers to this iconic waterway in the coming years.”
Back in March, Viking welcomed eight river ships to its fleet during a ceremony in Paris.
The line’s ocean fleet also continues to grow, with Saturn scheduled to launch in April 2023.
