Silversea’s Silver Shadow to undergo extensive refurbishment

Silversea Silver Shadow at sea to undergo extensive refurbishment

The extensive refurbishment of the ship will include the creation of a new Atrium area on deck 5, and major enhancements to all guest suites, corridors and many public spaces.

Silversea’s all-suite, 388-guest vessel, Silver Shadow, will undergo an extensive refurbishment in November 2019, as part of the cruise line’s Project Invictus: a long-term plan to enhance its luxury fleet of ships.

The ship’s spacious guest suites and corridors will undergo a floor-to-ceiling renovation, inspired by the elegant design and colour palette of Silver Muse. Bathrooms will be upgraded with new sinks and Silestone material. Silver Shadow’s Medallion, Silver, Grand, and Royal suites will be given a new colour scheme and materials, akin to Silver Muse, while bathrooms will also undergo refurbishments. The ship’s Owner’s Suite will be entirely renovated too, with a full refurbishment of the bathroom.

Possibly the most significant change will be the new atrium, which will take the place currently held by the ship’s lobby, boutique and casino. This open-plan design will now include a guest reception area, luxury boutiques, and the Arts Café; currently unique to Silver Muse, this space is where guests can relax amid sophisticated artworks, as they enjoy coffees, pastries and sandwiches during the day, or cocktails in the evening.

Elsewhere, the ship’s fine dining French restaurant, La Dame, will be refurbished and enlarged to accommodate 40 diners to ensure every guest has the opportunity to experience it. Meanwhile, Connoisseur’s Corner, a luxurious lounge offering fine cognacs and cigars, will be moved to Deck 8, so that it can accommodate a new outdoor smoking area. Adjacent to this will now be the ship’s popular casino, which has been given a complete redesign in terms of its decor.

The Zaga Beauty Spa & Fitness Centre will also undergo a top-to-bottom renovation to enable more guests to enjoy its facilities. This will include a new steam and sauna rooms, fully refurbished treatment rooms, new furniture and flooring and updated state-of-the-art fitness equipment.

Finally, public spaces will be given a refresh, including The Restaurant, La Terrazza, Panorama Lounge, The Bar, The Show Lounge, and Card/Conference Rooms. These will each benefit from extensive décor upgrades, from new furniture to new upholstery, carpets, and wall/window treatments. The pool area will boast new outdoor furniture, refurbished teak flooring, a new canvas awning with inserted lighting, and new outdoor heaters.

“We are committed to maintaining the impeccable standards of the Silversea experience, and this major refurbishment of Silver Shadow represents a significant investment for the benefit of our guests,” said Roberto Martinoli, Silversea’s CEO.

“Whether relaxing in the new Atrium or sipping a cognac in the expanded Connoisseur’s Corner, our guests will notice not only a revitalised look but also greater choices and flexibility as a result of this project’s enhancements.”

Silver Shadow’s first voyage following the transformation will be to the Caribbean on a seven-night itinerary, departing from Fort Lauderdale for San Juan on 3 December 2019; silversea.com.
