Seabourn to restart operations in Greece this summer

Seabourn Ovation will run a series of no-fly Baltic cruises from London Tilbury

Seabourn has announced plans to restart operations in the Mediterranean this summer with a series of sailings operating out of Athens from 3 July.

Seabourn Ovation will operate seven-day cruises calling at ports throughout the Greek Isles.

Guests will also be able to book longer 14-day voyages, which combine individual seven-day voyages with a variety of different ports on each, such as Agios Nikolaos, Rhodes, Mykonos and Nafplion, as well as Limassol, Cyprus.

The voyages are scheduled to open for booking on 12 April and will be available to guests who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

The line said fully vaccinated “means a minimum of 14 days following the final dose of the currently approved Covid-19 vaccines being administered”.

Proof of vaccination and the dates given will be required, and the approved forms of documentation will be confirmed closer to the time of departure, the line added.

Additional health measures will also be in place, including health screening questionnaires, face mask requirements, physical distancing and capacity controls for indoor venues.

Seabourn president Josh Leibowitz said: “The entire Seabourn family is truly excited to provide our award-winning travel experience aboard Seabourn Ovation starting again this July in the Greek Isles.

“We’re grateful to the people of Greece for welcoming Seabourn back to the Mediterranean this summer.”

Greek tourism minister Harry Theoharis added: “Seabourn has been visiting Greece for more than 30 years and we look forward to welcoming their ships back to our unique destinations this summer.

“Tourism is a vital part of our economy and our plans place a priority on health and safety to help restore traveller confidence to all. We are sure that once again all our guests will have the best experiences in Greece creating memories to last a lifetime.”

Seabourn recently announced that its first purpose-built expedition ship, Seabourn Venture, has moved to the T. Mariotti shipyard in Genoa for the next stage in its construction.
