ROL Cruise has donated £2,750 and a collection of food and toiletries to Colchester Foodbank to help the organisation support individuals and families in crisis

The donation included a £1,500 contribution from the independent cruise retailer, with the remainder raised through a month-long series of team-led initiatives.

These included the company’s tuck shop, which ran throughout the month with all proceeds going to the foodbank, and an optional £5 donation from the team’s end-of-year bonuses, which ROL matched.

In addition to the financial support, the company’s co-owners [staff] collected essential food and toiletries, responding to the foodbank’s list of most-needed items.

Members of the team also visited the organisation to deliver the supplies, meet volunteers and offer their support. The cheque was presented by Rosie Cairns, CEO of ROL Cruise, on behalf of the team.

She said: “Having met the volunteers and seen first-hand the incredible work of Colchester Foodbank, my personal commitment, and that of ROL Cruise, to supporting our local community has been further reinforced.”

Cairns continued: “This donation is the result of a true team effort, combining our company’s contribution with the generosity of our co-owners, who gave their time, money, and supplies for the Foodbank. We remain committed to giving back locally and we hope this contribution brings some much-needed help to families in our area.”

Colchester Foodbank, which forms part of the Trussell Trust network, provides emergency food parcels to individuals and families across the region facing food poverty.

ROL Cruise’s donation comes during its 30th anniversary year, which you can read more about in the May/June issue of Cruise Trade News.
