Riviera Travel has confirmed it will continue a project to offer guests a more sustainable way to drink clean water.
The operator is working with Water-to-Go, a UK-based filtration company, which creates refillable bottles that filter out up to 99.99 per cent of bacteria, viruses, chemicals and other harmful contaminants from any non-saltwater source.
Riviera and Water-to-Go originally teamed up in late 2019, before the pandemic halted the project.
The collaboration will allow passengers to “use the bottle to safely drink from any tap, shower, wash-basin, stream or river – without any risk to their health – wherever they are in the world”, according to Riviera Travel.
It will also reduce the need for single-use plastics on Riviera’s holidays across Europe, Asia, Africa and South America.
Riviera Travel reducing plastic use
Riviera Travel’s Lucy Goodman said: “We’re pleased to continue our partnership with Water-to-Go, as the impressive technology behind their filters will ensure our guests have access to clean water, no matter where they travel to.
“As a result, we will significantly reduce the number of single-use plastics used on our holidays. Guests can stay topped up, while their environmental footprint goes down.”
Water-to-Go CEO Dave Shanks added: “Riviera’s core ethos is the same as ours, with the demand for responsible and sustainable practice running right through everything they do.
“Our refillable, reusable and recyclable bottles are ideal to stay hydrated, save money and significantly reduce the impact of single use plastic on the environment.”
In other Riviera Travel news, the operator recently hosted six travel agents on a fam trip on the Rhine, Strasbourg and Heidelberg itinerary, giving them an insight into what clients can expect on board and during excursions.
