Riverside Luxury Cruises christens second river ship

Riverside Luxury Cruises Launches Riverside Ravel

Riverside Luxury Cruises has christened its second ship, Riverside Ravel.

The christening ceremony, which took place in Viviers, France, was followed by a celebratory gala dinner and sailing, attended by German media, tour operators and travel agents.

A separate maiden voyage event and sailing for UK trade and media will take place on 20 August 2023.

Riverside Ravel will sail on the Rhone between Lyon and Arles, and features 55 suites, 24-hour butler service, four restaurants and a fitness centre including a swimming pool, gym and spa.

Last year, Seaside Collection entered the luxury river cruise market as Riverside Luxury Cruises, following the acquisition of the Crystal Cruises river fleet.

It began operations in April, with Riverside Mozart sailing on the Danube.

Riverside Luxury Cruises ‘delighted’ with expansion

Riverside Luxury Cruises co-founder Anouchka Gerlach said: “We are delighted that we can now offer our guests the French way of life with the Ravel.

“The cuisine is, of course, tailored to the region and our crew has prepared very special experiences on land.”

Earlier this year, the cruise line appointed Jon Knight as its UK and Ireland head of sales.

It has also purchased MS Bach, MS Mahler and MS Debussy, originally designed and operated by Crystal Cruises.

At the time, Gerlach said: “We are thrilled by the expansion of our fleet to include these storied vessels.

“This acquisition allows us to expand our itinerary offerings, showcasing a level of space, personalised service and elegance not found with any other river cruise line.”
