The Port of Dover has completed a £6 million upgrade to the mooring facilities on its two cruise berths
The new infrastructure will enable cruise ships of up to 350 metres in length to visit the Kent port in the years to come.
It marks the first step towards a wider expansion of Dover Cruise, which is one of the key elements of the Port’s long term vision to 2050.
Peter Wright, head of cruise at the port, said: “We are delighted to share this exciting news with the industry, which demonstrates our long-term commitment to be one of the UK’s leading cruise destinations.
“Our 2025 season is in full swing, and we already see a diverse range of cruise ships bringing in thousands of guests each week during high season.
“Our vision for cruise will ensure that Dover remains at the forefront of the sector, whilst delivering economic benefits across the region.”
Sonia Limbrick, head of business development for cruise at the port, added: “Dover, and the surrounding areas, have a huge appeal to cruise visitors from all over the world with iconic heritage and culture, in addition to being a convenient turnaround hub with exceptional customer service.”
Last year the port praised its “diverse range” of cruise line partners for helping it deliver a successful 2024 season.
