Peter Deer steps down as Fred Olsen’s chief financial officer

Fred Olsen Cruise Lines has confirmed Peter Deer has stepped down from his role as chief financial officer

Deer, who joined the business in 2004 and worked in various roles, led the company through the Covid-19 pandemic and helped secure the purchase of the line’s newest ships, Bolette and Borealis.

The company said Deer will now spend the summer “enjoying some quality time with his family” before seeking new opportunities.

Samantha Stimpson, chief executive at Fred Olsen, thanked Deer for his “significant contribution” to the company during his 20-year tenure.

“I wish him a relaxing summer and prosperous future career, as my team and I continue to grow and modernise Fred Olsen Cruise Lines,” she continued.

Fred Olsen continues trade expansion

Earlier this year, the line increased its support for UK travel agents on the back of a record-breaking year for sales with the appointment of two new field sales team members.

Dan Scott and Katie Hughes joined the team in late February, bringing with them a combined experience of more than 12 years in the travel industry.

Based in Yorkshire, Scott is the newest account manager tasked with looking after accounts across central and eastern England. He brings with him seven years of experience, including previous roles at Hays Travel and Thomas Cook.
