Oceania Cruises has appointed Frank Del Rio Jr as its new chief sales and marketing officer.
Del Rio Jr will be responsible for all sales and marketing activities and lead the teams based in the luxury line’s offices in Miami, Southampton, Sydney, and Sao Paulo.
The appointment marks his return to the company, following his previous stint which ran from 2003 to 2017.
During his time at Oceania Cruises, Regent Seven Seas Cruises, and ultimately at Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd, Del Rio Jr rose to the rank of senior vice-president and led all aspects of port and destination services along with on-board revenue.
More recently, Del Rio Jr has worked in the private equity, finance, and technology industries, where he was involved in AI, telecommunications and 5G network solutions, medical, and real estate development.
‘Growing the Oceania Cruises brand’
Oceania Cruises president and CEO Howard Sherman said: “I’m delighted to add Frank and his many talents to the already stellar team at Oceania Cruises. His passion, enthusiasm, and day-one familiarity with the brand, our guests, and our travel partners will take us from strength to strength.”
Del Rio Jr added: “I’m thrilled to be returning to a brand that I am so truly passionate about and is embedded in my DNA. I’m also eager to reconnect with the best sales and marketing team in the industry.
“Oceania’s successes are often imitated but never replicated and I look forward to many more of these great successes as we evolve and grow the acclaimed Oceania Cruises brand.”
Earlier in March, Oceania celebrated a new sales record after its 2024 Around the World in 180 Days voyage sold out within 30 minutes of opening for sale.
It also restructured its UK sales team in late 2021, promoting Louise Craddock to sales director UK and Ireland.
