Marella Discovery to become Marella’s second adult-only ship

Marella Cruises Marella Discovery

Marella Cruises has confirmed that Marella Discovery will be an adult-only ship for summer 2026, homeporting out of Limassol, Cyprus

The shift, the line said, is driven by a growing demand for adult-only holidays and the success of Marella Explorer 2, the company’s first adult-only ship.

Marella Discovery’s adult only sailings will have three itineraries all sailing round trips from Limassol: a Grecian Discovery itinerary, an Aegean Gems sailing and an Aegean Delights cruise. The new programme went on sale on Thursday (17 October).

Chris Hackney, managing director of the line, said: “This addition to the summer 2026 programme will allow customers who prefer an adult only ship a variety of itineraries to explore the sights of Greece, Cyprus and Turkey.

“We know from our research that three quarters of customers said adult-only ships were important to them when making a booking.

“Given the popularity of the adult-only ship, Marella Explorer 2, we hope this announcement will encourage even more new to cruise customers to sail with Marella Cruises in 2026.”

Marella Cruises to work closer with agents ahead of wave

Earlier this month, Hackney joined the Cruise Corner to share how the line will engage with its agent partners for the remainder of 2024 ahead of the wave period, and his predictions for the cruise industry in 2025.

The line also previously announced plans to trial a new microplastic filter on board Marella Explorer in a bid to improve the vessel’s sustainability credentials

In partnership with sustainability organisation Cleaner Seas Group, the line has installed two INDIKON filters onto the ship’s crew laundry system to prevent ecosystems and marine life from being harmed by plastic microfibres.
