John Torode is the new APT ambassador for Australia’s Kimberley region, it has been revealed.

The MasterChef star, who has signed on for two years, has travelled with APT to experience an expedition cruise, visiting places such as Montgomery Reef and the Horizontal Waterfalls.

Torode said: “The Kimberley was a region I was aware of but even as an Aussie I hadn’t considered it as a holiday destination. Coming on board as APT’s ambassador and visiting for the first time this year, just wow – it blew me away.

“There was so much to take in from the amazing natural landscapes like Montgomery Reef, which really shows you the power of mother nature, the local culture and the people, who are so welcoming, as well as unique local produce with ingredients like Gubinge – not only used in cooking but also as a natural medicine. The Kimberley is a must do for everybody – it truly is a destination like no other and I can’t believe I’m only just discovering it.”

As part of the new campaign APT is working with Tourism Western Australia.

APT UK & Europe MD Paul Melinis said: “We’re delighted to bring John Torode on board as an APT ambassador. His passion for Australia and now the Kimberley is clear to see.

“To UK travellers the Kimberley is relatively unknown and we’re working with John and Tourism Western Australia to let holidaymakers know about Australia’s final frontier, a not-so-hidden gem which offers adventure, whether you’re travelling by land or by sea. Guests will have the chance to see nature at its finest in this captivating landscape.”

APT will be unveiling a dedicated brochure for the Kimberley on 30 August 2019.
