Hurtigruten adds cruise veteran David Chidley to UK trade sales team

Hurtigruten David Chidley account manager

Hurtigruten has added David Chidley to its UK sales team as part of a restructure to strengthen trade relations and accelerate growth in the UK

Chidley, who joins the Norwegian coastal specialist as account manager, has previously held roles with Royal Caribbean, Uniworld Boutique River Cruises and Fred River Cruises.

“Our relationships with trade partners are integral to our success, and through the knowledge and experience of David, we can take our dedication and service to partners to new heights,” said Iain Powell, VP sales and marketing UK & EMEA.

“We’re entering an exciting period for Hurtigruten following the introduction of new premium products, the Svalbard Express and North Cape Express. With the addition of these new products to our existing original costal express, we are continuing our legacy of offering the best and most immersive way to experience the most beautiful coastline in the world.”

In his new role, Chidley will be responsible for managing existing key accounts and supporting their development, which Hurtigruten said will be “vital” to the growth of trade distribution.

Chidley ‘raring’ to take on Hurtigruten challenge

“The cruise industry is a highly competitive space, and I’m raring to take on the challenge and use my skills and expertise to help Hurtigruten stand out amongst the trade,” said Chidley.

“I look forward to working with James Howlett again, as well as the wider team, to deliver great results. I can’t wait to get started.”

The appointment follows the recent promotions of Carla Hines to head of sales for EMEA and James Howlett to head of sales UK. Powell added: “Carla and James have both played a significant role in driving Hurtigruten’s success. With the addition of David to the team, I look forward to delivering future growth for our Norwegian coastal and premium products.”
