Holland America Line ship Oosterdam has set sail following a two-week dry dock in the Bahamas
The 1,964-guest vessel, which departed Fort Lauderdale to reposition for its Mediterranean season, has benefitted from interior design upgrades, refreshed public areas, a new Effy jewellery retail space and an expanded casino.
Various public areas received new furniture and additional upgrades were made to the Crow’s Nest bar and lounge; Greenhouse Spa & Salon; the Photo Gallery and Photo Studio; and the suite-exclusive Neptune Lounge.
More than 20,000 square meters of new carpet was installed in all suites, verandah staterooms and numerous public areas, including the Atrium, Photo Gallery and Photo Studio, Rolling Stone Lounge and Greenhouse Spa & Salon.
Select in-stateroom bathrooms received full renovations and several balcony staterooms have new deck furniture. The Rolling Stone Lounge was upgraded with an enhanced bar and new carpet, furnishings, LED lighting and flooring.
Oosterdam’s Greenhouse Spa & Salon now features a new sauna and a new couple’s massage therapy room, with the Thermal Suite being rebuilt with a Laconium thermal room, steam room and experiential rain shower.
Suite guests with access to the exclusive Neptune Lounge will find new carpet, drapes and light fixtures, along with dining and lounge furniture. The catering area has been renovated to offer a more streamlined look, and a new concierge desk fitted.
The Photo Studio and Photo Gallery have been updated with new carpet, signage and lighting for private photo sessions. The refurbished Photo Gallery now includes display areas and a facial recognition digital photo system for guests to view their photos through their account.
Oosterdam will spend the next seven months sailing around the Mediterranean, visiting ports in countries such as Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Egypt, before crossing the Atlantic in November, returning to South America and Antarctica.
It comes after Holland America Line revealed its biggest-ever travel agent ship visit programme this year.
