Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has revealed its 2025 Mediterranean fly-cruise programme, with new domestic flight options from a range of regional airports
New routes from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast and Newcastle will connect with flights from Heathrow, offering guests a seamless start to their Med adventure onboard Balmoral.
Guests flying from the additional airports will connect via Heathrow to meet their onward journey to the Mediterranean, meaning holidaymakers can travel with just one check-in, further streamlining the start of their holiday experience.
Direct charter flights are also available from Stansted and Manchester and include a generous luggage allowance.
The line’s hand-picked Mediterranean fly-cruise sailings include calls to well-loved ports and lesser-known destinations across Spain, Italy, Croatia, Greece and Turkey.
Whether exploring ancient ruins, strolling through charming cliffside towns or sampling local delicacies, these cruises are designed to immerse guests in the region’s culture and history.
Doug Glenwright, guest experience director for Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines, said the Mediterranean’s many architectural, cultural and culinary highlights coupled with Fred. Olsen’s onboard offering makes the holidays “especially rewarding”.
“Adding these new domestic flights to our fly-cruise programmes makes it even easier for our guests across the UK to join one of our fly-cruises, offering fewer days at sea and the chance to be exploring one of the region’s enriching destinations much quicker,” he added.
Guests will have the chance to explore the sunshine coastlines of Amalfi and Dalmatia, the scenic islands of Greece and the Balearics, or embrace traditions in Turkey.
Travellers are looked after every step of their journey, including a representative meeting them at their destination airport, transfers to and from Balmoral, and their luggage being delivered straight to their cabin from their transfer bus so they can sit back, relax and enjoy their break.
Itineraries include a 10-night Spanish Colours and Cultures cruise, from Southampton to Valenica via La Coruna, Cadiz, Ibiza and Barcelona, on 17 September 2025, which starts from £1,199pp.
During this sailing, guests will experience Ibiza’s renowned sunset from the comfort of their well-appointed cabin, enjoy authentic Spanish cuisines such as tapas and fruity Jerez sherry and visit Gaudi’s unfinished marvel, the Sagrada Familia Cathedral.
Meanwhile, a 10-night Colourful Cliffside Towns of the Amalfi Coast cruise, from Valencia to Civitavecchia (for Rome) via Mahon, Propriano, La Spezia, Salerno, Naples and Sorrento, departs 27 September 2025, from £1,799pp.
On this cruise, travellers will marvel at the eye-catching Cinque Terre, Bonifacio and the Amalfi Coast, experience “la dolce vita”, Italy’s culture of enjoying life’s pleasures, and savour limoncello, scialatielli pasta and Italian pizza.
A 12-night Discovering Turkish Treasures’ cruise, from Rhodes to Malaga via Bodrum, Kusadasi, Istanbul and Valletta, meanwhile, departs 25 October 2025, from £1,499pp.
Holidaymakers will explore a multitude of renowned European landmarks, embrace local Turkish traditions, and enjoy the fragrant local tea, before delving into the winding streets of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul.
