P&O Cruises will welcome England football royalty onboard Britannia this spring, with Sir Geoff Hurst set to sail on its flagship for a four-night ‘Audience with’ residency in the Limelight Club
The last remaining member of England’s 1966 World Cup-winning team – and the only man ever to score a winning hat-trick in a men’s World Cup Final – will be sailing on part of Britannia’s Caribbean Transatlantic cruise from Barbados to Southampton, giving guests a rare opportunity to hear first-hand stories from one of English football’s most iconic heroes.
Across four consecutive evenings from Ponta Delgada in Portugal (30 March), Sir Geoff will take to the stage in the Limelight Club for an intimate Q&A covering his extraordinary career, from lifting the Jules Rimet trophy at Wembley to his life beyond the pitch.
The residency comes with the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America just months away from kicking off.
Carnival UK & P&O Cruises president Paul Ludlow said: “Welcoming Sir Geoff Hurst on Britannia is a real coup for us and a very special moment for our guests. He is a big part of our nation’s football heritage and a national treasure whose achievements continue to inspire generations of football fans.”
Sir Geoff Hurst added: “I’ve been fortunate to experience some extraordinary moments in football, and I’ve always enjoyed sharing those memories with fans. To do so on board Britannia, with people who are relaxing on holiday and having a great time, is something I’m really looking forward to.
“The 1966 World Cup was such a momentous occasion for the country, and it’s always a pleasure to relive those memories and answer questions from supporters. In sport, as in life, you have to be hopeful and I truly believe England has a very good chance this summer. I think Tuchel is developing a disciplined team that will be a dangerous opponent for any side – and I’ve kept the World Cup final date clear in my diary just in case.”
Prices for Britannia’s 14-night Caribbean Transatlantic cruise currently start from £1,099 per person based on two people sharing an inside cabin (direct flights and transfers included).
