As I sat down to plan this edition of the magazine, with a notepad in hand and countless web pages flashing in from of my eyes, my key aim was to strike balance between analysis of the current situation while also ensuring a tone of optimism.
After speaking to many in the industry, I have every faith that this great industry of ours will emerge from current difficulties with its head held high and optimism surging throughout.
With that in mind, we analyse some of the green shoots of recovery beginning to emerge. See pages 14/15 for a look at the cruise lines sailing again and how they have changed the on-board experience.
Our interview section features a host of industry experts discussing their recent experiences and plans for the future. Turn to page 16.
We hear from Seabourn UK and Ireland MD Lynn Narroway (page 12) on how the line is working with trade partners and get expert advice from SeaDream’s Jos Dewing on how to improve product knowledge – See page 20. As I am sure you will appreciate changes are occurring on a regular basis, so all information is correct at the time of going to print.
I also need to mention some very sad and personal news that you may have read on our website and social media channels. Our publishing director Peter Grant, passed away in June.
Peter was incredibly important to all aspects of Cruise Trade News and Real Response Media. On a professional note, he was fundamental in pushing our brand to new heights, whether that was through our travel agent event, the Cruise Challenge or driving innovation in our digital channels.
Personally, he was a true friend and supporter, providing guidance every step of the way.
I do hope you find the articles in this issue useful and informative.
Until next time.
