Azamara Club Cruises’ UK & Ireland managing director, Richard Twynam, will take on a new role from the 1 September, covering the EMEA region.

Larry Pimentel, Azamara’s president and chief executive, said the move would allow the company to broaden its scope and expand in key markets.

Twynam has been with Azamara for almost five years.

The news comes at a busy time for the line, as it celebrates the christening of the third ship in its fleet, Azamara Pursuit.

The ceremony, held in Southampton, was followed by a voyage to Cherbourg, France, where guests spent time in traditional French markets.

During the ceremony, Richard Fain, chairman and CEO of Royal Caribbean Cruises, spoke of his pride at how the line has developed, and referenced Destination Immersion, one of Azamara’s key selling points.

He added: “Along with this ship, we get to celebrate the amazing men and women of Azamara. [We] now embark on a new chapter of growth, hope and discovery.

“Destination Immersion was the foundation of Azamara and its success. A few years ago, the concept was novel, but today it is employed across the industry.

“Azamara has continued to build on that concept and refine its execution.”
