Aurora Expeditions unveils new 2022 global voyages

Aurora expeditions, Sylvia Earle, expedition cruise

Aurora Expeditions has launched a selection of new itineraries to Alaska and Haida Gwaii, the North West Passage and the Russian Far East.

The 2022 programme will be aboard the line’s new purpose-built expedition ships, the Greg Mortimer and the Sylvia Earle.

Pre-registration is now open to travel trade partners, providing access to exclusive early bird offers and the ability to reserve first choice of cabins. Voyages go on sale on 27 October 2020.

Alaskan expeditions include the 13-day Alaska Adventure, departing 19 May 2022; the 13-day Alaska Adventure & Haida Gwaii, departing 30 May, and 14-day Alaska Odyssey, sailing on 10 June.

Greg Mortimer will visit the North West Passage on two 17-day departures: 24 August and 7 September, while there are four departures for the Russian Far East, starting on 19 July and continuing through to August.

Aurora Expeditions UK and Europe director of sales Craig Upshall said: “While Aurora Expeditions has been synonymous with the more traditional polar regions of the European Arctic and the Antarctic Peninsula, the arrival of the new ship Sylvia Earle in the autumn of 2021, and a new global voyages programme, will ensure that Aurora Expeditions continues to offer innovative and intrepid voyages to remote locations and hard-to-reach islands”.

The line’s global head of marketing Victoria Primrose added: “With wonderful feedback on the Greg Mortimer ship during its maiden season (Antarctica 2019/20), and with the upcoming delivery of our second purpose-built expedition ship, Sylvia Earle, in just over 12 months, (October 2021), it continues to be an exciting period of growth.

“We hope these new itineraries, in particular Alaska, the North West Passage and the Russian Far East, evoke some wanderlust for those who are patiently ready and waiting to explore the world again with Aurora Expeditions.”

In an update on 28 September, Aurora revealed that it had more than 500 applications  for pre-registration for its 2022 voyages. More than 80 per cent of registrations are for new bookings for 2021/22.

To support the trade the line is also running webinars to provide updates on its 2022 voyages, led by business development manager Jay Turner. These will take place on the 6 and 7 October, both at 9:30am.
