A-Rosa River Cruises has released renderings of the new family cabins that will be debut on its new ‘E-Motion’ ship.

The ship, which will sail on the Rhine, has been scheduled for delivery in the spring of 2021.

The 28 square-metre family cabins have been designed to sleep up to five people and will feature a double bed, sofa bed and two bunk beds complete with peepholes and curtains for children. There will also be a play area and a bathroom with shower and two sinks, along with a separate toilet.

To make the suites as child-friendly as possible, the river cruise line plans to have a toy box in every cabin filled with age-appropriate toys for young guests. They will be located in a dedicated family area, next to the kids club.

A-Rosa’s new ship will feature a number of innovative new family features including a separate children’s pool, next to a large swimming pool on the sun deck, a dedicated kids club room on board. The restaurant will also have a children’s area, so young passengers can choose to eat together with their friends if they prefer.

The ship will also include 119, 21 square-metre standard cabins that boast a separate living area, plus a bathroom and a large balcony with seating for two.

Seven balcony suites will also be available, located in a separate suite area. The 26 square-metre suites will have televisions that can be rotated so guests can choose whether to watch from their bed or the sofa. There are also two accessible use cabins.

With multigenerational cruising becoming more popular than ever (ABTA announced it as one of the six key cruise trends for 2020), many river cruise lines, along with A-Rosa, are now choosing to open up to this market with family-orientated cruises, once considered the preserve of larger ocean vessels.

Along with being family-friendly, A-Rosa’s yet-to-be-named ‘E-Motion’ ship will also boast battery propulsion for emission-free sailings into and out of cities and air bubble technology to lower fuel consumption, in a bid to reduce the line’s environmental footprint.
