A pair of travel agents who met on a Riviera Travel fam trip have announced their engagement

Mary Barnes, assistant manager at TUI in Chippenham, and Dan Hammond, travel consultant at GoCruise & Travel, were first introduced at Heathrow Airport as they embarked on a fam trip to Sri Lanka in May 2025.

The pair hit it off during the tour and kept in touch once they returned home, meeting up in London soon after. They got engaged on Monday (2 March) while on a Caribbean cruise.

Hammond said: “It all started with a message after we connected on the Sri Lanka fam trip. What began as a friendly conversation quickly turned into something more as we spent time exploring such an incredible destination together.

“After returning to the UK, we stayed in touch and realised there was something more special there. We met up in London not long after, bonding over our shared love of musical theatre, and the rest is history.

“We’ll always be grateful to Riviera for bringing us together on what turned out to be a life-changing journey.”
