Princess Cruises has unveiled a new satisfaction concept that it says will offer “greater peace of mind during a cruise holiday”.

The Princess Promise will ensure the line can “make it right” for any on-board service that does not meet guests’ expectations. This could include, but is not limited to, on-board credits, future cruise credits or refunds.

Princess has also expanded its book with confidence policy to apply to all bookings made by 2 March 2021 on voyages departing through to 31 October.

The policy allows guests to change their cruise plans 30 days prior to day of departure, receiving cancellation fees as a future cruise credit.

Princess Cruises chief commercial officer Deanna Austin said: “During this time, we’re all dreaming about our next cruise holiday and experiencing the wonder of new places, people and cultures.

“When we set sail again, our guests can feel at ease with the promise of a great cruise and the flexibility of adjusting their bookings if their plans change.”

The line’s 2022 summer Japan programme, on sale from 15 December, features 35 departures on Diamond Princess, sailing from May through to September 2022.

Cruises range from five to 19 days, with 31 destinations, four countries and 10 UNESCO sites included.

Highlights include opportunities to visit local festivals, such as the Kyoto Gion Festival and the Osaka Tenjin Festival, as well as a maiden port call to Hitachinaka, for access to the shrines and temples of Nikko.

In addition, 10 ports will offer late-night stays including Akita, Aomori, Kochi, Osaka and Tokushima.

Princess recently announced that Diamond Princess will feature the line’s Ocean Medallion technology.

The Ocean Medallion concept includes a range of features, including keyless stateroom entry, contactless payments, simplified safety training, and on-demand food, beverages and retail items delivered anywhere on board, among other things.

The MedallionClass Experience, as it is known, will also support new health and safety measures on board.
