Odyssey of the Seas hits new milestone as ship floated out of shipyard

Odyssey of the Seas, royal Caribbean, cruise, new ship

Royal Caribbean’s newest ship Odyssey of the Seas has been floated out of the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany.

The ship, which will be the first Quantum-Ultra class ship to homeport in Europe when it launches later this year, will be conveyed down the river Ems to complete technical and nautical sea trials once interior work has been done.

Odyssey of the Seas will cruise from Rome, visiting destinations in the Greek Isles and the Mediterranean.

The ship will feature a number of entertainment options, including laser tag in the SeaPlex area, a bungee trampoline experience at Sky Pad, and skydiving on the RipCord by iFLY simulator.

Royal Caribbean International vice-president EMEA Ben Bouldin: “We are delighted to reveal a glimpse of Odyssey of the Seas to the public. She will be the latest Royal Caribbean game changer to join our fleet next year.

“When we welcome our guests back, they will be able to enjoy unforgettable activities onboard Odyssey, dig in to delicious dining from around the world, and soak up the sun at a newly designed resort-style pool deck.”

Speaking to Cruise Trade News about the ship, Bouldin added: “Welcoming Odyssey of the Seas to Europe for her maiden season is all the more exhilarating, given it will have been over a year and a half since our ships have sailed in Europe.

“When she sets sail later this year she will not only be the newest ship in the Royal Caribbean fleet, but also one of the most innovative and technologically advanced ships in the world.”
