Guests on board Hapag-Lloyd Cruises’ MS Europa 2 will be treated to a breakdancing show this month.
The Flying Steps dance group will make its debut on the ship on a cruise that departed Monte Carlo today (4 July) to Palma de Mallorca.
The group, which hails from Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, has become a network of over 30 athletes who have danced their way to international success.
In 2010, Vartan Bassil, who leads the group’s artistic direction, created the Flying Bach show with conductor and opera director Christoph Hagel. The performance blends urban and classical dance styles with the piano compositions of Johann Sebastian Bach.
Flying Bach is the first breakdancing show to be awarded the special prize at the ECHO classical music awards in Germany. It has also enjoyed two sold out tours in 35 countries.
