Iglu Cruise has appointed former commercial and product lead for The Cruise Line Paul Frost as its new head of tour operations
Frost, who has also held roles with World Travel Holdings (WTH) and Fred. Olsen Travel, joined the online travel agency earlier this week.
Dave Mills, Iglu Cruise chief commercial officer, said: “We’re so delighted to welcome someone of Paul’s calibre to our team, and are looking forward to expanding our range, thanks to his drive, expertise and passion.”
The appointment comes after research carried out by Iglu found that over the last six years, the Canary Islands has seen a 7,954 per cent increase in demand from consumers.
Cruises to the Mediterranean are also proving increasingly popular, with a 6,228 per cent increase in demand from 2018 to 2024. Hawaii posted a 2,935 per cent uptick in demand and Antarctica saw a 660 per cent rise.
Mills added: “The Canary Islands have grown from strength to strength as a cruise destination over the last six years.”
“Having diverse enough islands to feel like you’ve visited several different destinations in one cruise, a balmy climate, and relatively short flight times to get to the sunshine are all reasons why this destination is a general favourite for the UK.
“Add to the fact that several major cruise lines, like P&O Cruises and Marella Cruises, have increased the number of Canary Island departures they offer and you can see why this growth is so substantial.”
Earlier this year, Iglu won the Holland America Line and Princess Cruises Outstanding Contribution awards at the 2024 UK Cruise Awards.
