Havila Voyages has announced details of three new astronomy themed cruises for 2024, accompanied by lecturers from the Royal Astronomical Society (RAS).
The cruises, which have been designed to deepen guests understanding of the universe, depart in February, March and October 2024, sailing for 11 nights round-trip from Bergen to Kirkenes.
Head of UK sales Matthew Valentine said: “These new astronomy cruises are ideal for those customers who want to delve deeper into the world of astronomy, or those perhaps who are complete novices but who have a curious mind and want to learn more about the universe around us.”
John Zarnecki, an English space scientist and former president of the RAS, will be joining the voyage departing on 2 March 2024. His lectures will cover an array of subjects such as spacecraft and cosmic creatures.
Meanwhile, Ian Ridpath, editor of the Oxford Dictionary of Astronomy, will guide the 1 February and 30 October cruises. During the voyages, Ridpath will give lectures on a range of subjects including the Northern Lights, comets, stars and the Apollo space missions.

The duo will also be on hand to offer hints and tips on spotting the Aurora Borealis as well as explaining more about the spectacle as it happens.
If the light show doesn’t appear on an 11 night voyage between August and March, guests can enjoy a free six or seven night cruise the following winter.
All three astronomy departures (1 February, 2 March and 30 October) currently cost from £1,058pp based on two sharing an inside cabin on full board basis. The lectures are accessible for an additional £250 per person, per cruise.
