G Adventures has launched a Norwegian cruise programme for 2017 in response to demand for voyages around the fjords.
The cruises are on the company’s 134-passenger ship Expedition and start with a 14-night voyage from Edinburgh to Tromsø that visits the Shetland and Orkney Islands before reaching Norway and sailing up the coast from Bergen.
There are port calls including Flåm, Olden, Geiranger and Trondheim, and a day at the North Cape, the most northerly point in Europe. There will also be a Zodiac excursion to see the rock formations at Torghatten and the Treana archipelago. From £2,592 per person cruise-only based on sharing a four-berth cabin.
From Tromsø, Expedition will head back to Bergen on an eight-night voyage departing May 24 2017 that visits the Lofoten Islands, Torghatten and Trondheim.
Departing Bergen on May 31, Expedition heads back to Tromsø, but skipping the North Cape and instead sailing north to Spitsbergen and the realm of the polar bear. Weather-permitting, there’ll be a Zodiac cruise around Bear Island, which is home to thousands of sea birds.
This cruise is 15 days and costs from £2,974 per person cruise-only based on sharing a four-berth cabin. Twin rooms start from £4,674 per person.
