Emerald Cruises has announced ROL Cruise MD Sarah Wikevand as godmother of Emerald Azzurra, the line’s first ocean-going superyacht.

Wikevand will christen the 100-guest ship – which entered service in March – in Venice on 28 May.

Emerald Cruises said that ROL Cruise was one of the “top performing agents for superyacht cruises” and had been “instrumental in the success” of Azzurra’s launch.

The line’s global director of brand & marketing, David Winterton, said: “We cannot wait to welcome Sarah on board our stunning Emerald Azzurra in Venice next month, as this fantastic luxury yacht is officially christened.

“We value our trade partners highly and we’re thrilled that Sarah has graciously accepted to be godmother to Emerald Azzurra.

“Sarah is set to become the third UK travel agent godmother in our Emerald Cruises fleet and we’re honoured to continue this tradition showing our dedication to our partners.”

Wikevand added: “I have been working with the incredible Emerald Cruises team for over six years now and I am humbled to have been selected as godmother for the line’s first ocean-going superyacht Emerald Azzurra.

“It is an honour to work closely with the team on such a monumental milestone for Emerald Cruises.”

Emerald Azzurra will sail in the Adriatic and Mediterranean before repositioning to Doha, Qatar, in December 2022 to cruise the Arabian Peninsula between Doha and Dubai.

It will be joined by sister yacht Emerald Sakara in 2023, with itineraries to the Middle East and Mediterranean on sale now.
