About Valley of the Kings
The UNESCO-listed Valley of the Kings is famous for its royal tombs, most notably Tutankhamun whose burial chamber was unearthed by English archaeologist Howard Carter in 1922.
For over 1,000 years kings, queens and nobles were buried in tombs dug into the mountains. Following a decade-long restoration project the boy king’s tomb has reopened and visitors can pay an extra fee to see inside.
