About Muscat

The capital and largest city of Oman is surrounded by mountains and desert, creating a distinctly unique feel compared to its high-rise neighbours. The old port area has a labyrinth of areas where visitors can bargain for souvenirs and there are some beautiful beaches for swimming. Sights include the landmark Grand Mosque, Bait Al Zubair Museum with displays of Omani history and culture, and the Al Alam Palace, which was built as a royal residence in 1972.
