How to Write a Winning Entry

Read the instructions: Make sure you understand what needs to be done and answer the questions thoroughly. Prepare your written submission in a word document before submitting it online.

Show off your successes: Make sure you back up your successes and achievements with evidence – i.e ‘I increased sales by 20% year on year.’ It’s not good enough to just say your sales increased! By how much did they increase, what was the result?

Check, check and check again: Make sure someone else proof reads your entry and ask them to give you constructive feedback. If you are nominating someone else, make sure they read it – they know what they did more than you so make sure they contribute to the submission.

Make it original: Try to avoid copying the entry you submitted last year – chances are some of the judges will have been on last year’s panel. Take time to make sure your entry is up to date and relevant to the last 12 months of activity.
Give it personality: Show your personality and what makes you unique. The Cruise Stars Awards is aimed at rewarding individuals, so go for it to ensure you stand out from the cruising crowd!

Use plain English: Try not to use industry jargon or business terms.
Support your entry: You can submit up to 5MB of supporting documents, so make sure you use it in support of your entry.
