Ambassador Cruise Line has confirmed that Ambience will enter dry dock at A&P Tyne in Hebburn on 7 January 2026
The three-week programme forms part of the line’s continued investment in its UK-based fleet, with the upgrades to Ambience following the recent refit of its sister ship Ambition at A&P Falmouth. It is the first time Ambassador has partnered with A&P Tyne for dry docking.
The refit will include technical maintenance to support long-term safety and operational efficiency, including upgrades to the propulsion control system, engine overhauls, replacement of rudder bearings and SCR catalyst elements, and steel and structural repairs across tanks and hull areas. Additional improvements will cover internal pipework, HVAC systems and mechanical components.
Nick Hughes, chief operating officer for Ambassador Cruise Line, said: “Ambience’s dry dock in Hebburn represents a significant investment in our first lady of the sea and underlines our long-term commitment to maintaining the highest technical and hospitality standards across our fleet. Working with A&P Tyne allows us to support UK maritime expertise while ensuring Ambience continues to deliver the affordable quality and warmest welcome at sea that our guests value so highly.”
Alongside technical works, Ambience will receive a series of guest-facing enhancements. Cabins and suites will be fitted with additional plug sockets and USB and USBC ports, lifts will be refurbished and new carpets will be installed across selected decks.
Elsewhere, furnishings and finishes will be refreshed in suites, balcony cabins and public spaces, windows will be replaced to improve visibility and the Green Sea Spa will be updated with new flooring, tiling, artwork and greenery.
The project forms part of Ambassador’s wider fleet renewal strategy, focused on reliability, affordability and guest experience. The refit will also support skills development at A&P Tyne, with Ambience set to become the largest cruise ship to enter dry dock in the North East in more than 20 years.
