Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines breaks trading record for second time this year

Summary

  • Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has recorded its strongest trading day on record, beating the previous record it set in July this year
  • The success came from the launch of its 2028 programme, which had "unprecedented demand"
  • The line has thanked agents for their support in delivering the historic day

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has reported its strongest booking day on record, beating the previous record set earlier this year

The line, which launched more than 170 years ago, opened bookings for its 2028 cruise programme on 7 October, featuring 39 cruises departing between January and July.

The launch generated "unprecedented demand and exceptionally high booking volumes", the line said, delivering its strongest trading day in history.

A 13-night Northern European sailing, an 18-night Italian Riviera and Amalfi Coast voyage and a 37-night island-hopping Caribbean cruise were the most popular, the line added.

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines had previously marked its best-ever trading day in July this year with the launch of its 87-night 2028 Amazon and Antarctica Grand Voyage.

Geoff Ridgeon, head of sales, said: "The response to our new 2028 cruise programme has been exceptional, with demand exceeding our expectations and delivering the strongest trading day in our history for the second time this year.

"This achievement would not have been possible without the fantastic support of our trade partners, whose confidence, enthusiasm and commitment have once again played a crucial role in the success of this launch. I'd also like to thank our trade partners and guests for their patience while we managed unprecedented levels of demand.

"The enthusiasm we've seen for these sailings has been fantastic and we're expected to help more guests discover more of the world with us in 2028."
