Holland America Line takes delivery of 2,668-guest Rotterdam

Holland America Line has taken delivery of new ship Rotterdam

Holland America Line has taken delivery of new ship Rotterdam, the 11th vessel in the fleet.

The ship is the third in the line’s Pinnacle class and the the seventh ship in Holland America Line history to bear the name Rotterdam.

Rotterdam will remain in non-guest operations until its transatlantic crossing on 20 October 2021, from Amsterdam to Fort Lauderdale.

It will then start its maiden season in the Caribbean. Naming details have not been finalised and will be announced at a later date, HAL said. Prices for a 10-Day Southern Caribbean Seafarer cruise, departing 21 November 2021, start from £1,499pp.

On board guests will be able to sample a range of venues and restaurants, including the Grand Dutch Café; Dive-In, serving gourmet burgers and fries poolside; New York Deli and Pizza, offering sandwiches and pies; and Lido Market, with themed serving stations.

Holland America Line president Gus Antorcha said: “Rotterdam looks stunning and will certainly live up to bearing such an iconic name as the new flagship of our fleet, carrying on a tradition of excellence that our guests have loved for nearly 150 years.

“Thank you to our partners at Fincantieri and our own team members who worked tirelessly to deliver the ship on schedule during what has been the most challenging of times, and also deliver a ship that looks beautiful, is immaculately finished and will be an incredible addition to our brand. We cannot wait to welcome guests on board later this fall.”

HAL’s Greece itineraries are scheduled to resume from 15 August, sailing on Eurodam.

Next year will also mark HAL’s 75th year of cruising in Alaska. The line has a range of options available, including seven-day cruises to the Inside Passage and longer itineraries that combine a cruise with land excursions to Denali and the Yukon.
