Ship MSC Bellissima has become the star of Channel 5’s Building the Ultimate Mega Cruise Ship documentary.
The hour-long episode will air on Friday 14 February at 8pm.
MSC managing director of UK & Ireland, Antonio Paradiso, said: “MSC Bellissima is one of the largest and most technologically-advanced cruise ships in the world, and it’s great to be able to share an in-depth look at some of the ship’s key engineering features with the UK audience. By watching the show, our audience will be able to get a unique look inside the ship’s key technical areas that guests don’t usually get to see.
“There is a real appetite in the UK for TV shows featuring cruise, and by sharing the on-board experience on such a large scale we hope to highlight to viewers, especially those who may not have considered a cruise before what a great choice a cruise holiday is.”
The show, made by Windfall Films, part of the Argonon group, gives an up-close look at MSC Bellissima. It will focus on the journey on the ship from design of the 171,000-ton vessel, through to its construction and operation on one of its very first voyages, which carried over 7,000 guests and crew around the Mediterranean.
Built from 35,000 tons of steel, stretching 1,036 feet and with the ability to carry over 5,700 passengers, the ship’s key engineering feats will be followed in the episode. From looking at what technology is used to ensure the ship sails smoothly, to how the ship provides fresh water to guests, all while keeping 5,700 guests happy on their journey.
MSC Bellissima launched in March 2019 and was the largest ship ever to be christened in the UK. It is one of five ships launched by MSC Cruises in the last three years and features 20 bars and lounges, Zoe, the world’s first digital personal cruise assistant, and exclusive Cirque du Soleil at Sea shows and 12 dining venues.
