Cruise Trade News June-July 2023

There’s nothing quite like launching something new, or in our case, relaunching an event. Yes, after a few years away, we are breathing new life into the Cruise Stars Awards.

As a reminder – the Cruise Stars as organised by Cruise Trade News, recognise success and innovation, shining a spotlight on the brightest and best talent in the cruise industry. Categories – designed to showcase individual achievements – include awards for Cruise Line PR & Marketing Star, Cruise Line Sales Star and National Travel Agent Sales Star, among others, including special awards for the industry’s Rising Stars.

We are thrilled the event is making a long overdue comeback and are excited to make it bigger and better than ever before. See inside for how to get involved.

Elsewhere, Light Blue Travel commercial director Michelle Daniels explains how German cruise line Nicko Cruises is boosting its presence in the UK market, while we also speak to Cunard’s Gemma Scarfe about strengthening trade relationships.

Destination-wise, we explore how cruise lines are reinventing the Mediterranean with new experiences and itineraries.

For our analysis, we look at plans for a deepwater port in Stornaway, weighing up the benefits of a project due to be completed in April next year. Stornaway Port Authority CEO Alex MacLeod says, “The opportunities are incredible.” However does everyone agree?

As for ship, in August Emerald Sakara will make its debut sailing the Mediterranean and Adiatic alongside sister Emerald Azzurra. Go to the At a Glance section for detailed information about what Sakara will offer, including dining options, wellness activities and much more.
