CLIA UK & Ireland has revealed the keynote speakers for its first-ever expedition cruise forum.

The event, which takes place in London on 28 March, will hear from British documentary maker and marine biologist Monty Halls, appearing courtesy of Silversea, and exploration leader Robin West, who is vice president of expedition operations and planning for Seabourn.

Halls, who is best known for his BBC Great Escape series, is an expedition leader, travel writer and former Royal Marine.

West oversees Seabourn’s expedition offerings and has personally spent many seasons in regions including the Arctic and Antarctic, East and West Africa, and the South Pacific.

CLIA UK & Ireland director Andy Harmer said: “The expedition cruise forum has been created to showcase the incredible experiences that an adventure cruise has to offer and the different areas of the world expedition ships visit.

“We are thrilled that, to help tell this story, we have two of the biggest names in destination exploration speaking at the event, along with experts within the industry.

“Over recent years we have seen a significant increase of interest in expedition cruises. As such, CLIA has created this event so travel agents can capitalise on this growing popularity.

“Packed with useful and insightful information, we’re confident that the expedition cruise forum will help agents feel knowledgeable and confident when selling these types of cruises.”

The event is free for CLIA travel agent members.
