Prospective travellers can now experience the multi-million pound remastered luxury cruise liner before booking.
Cunard has brought the cruise experience into the 21st century by providing Virtual Reality viewers to travel agents.
These viewers will ensure agents who may not have seen Queen Mary 2 are able to educate their customers from almost firsthand experience – bringing the experience to life to help them better sell to their customers.
This initiative follows Cunard’s investment in the region of £90million in remastering Queen Mary 2, ahead of the cruise liner’s relaunch in Southampton last month.
VR viewers let prospective customers take a tour of the remastered spaces including the stunning Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites and restaurants, Carinthia Lounge and stunning atrium. The imagery is “stereoscopic” – two images which, when viewed together, give a 3D view allowing people to explore the areas.
Queen Mary 2 has been remastered with new contemporary interior designs and guest experiences, many of which take inspiration from the original Queen Mary which launched at the height of the art-deco movement in the 1930s. Cunard’s investment, marking 80 years since the original liner launched, has ensured every detail from the carpets to the curtains recalls that iconic vessel which became a symbol of British elegance.
Angus Struthers, Director, Cunard said: “Cunard is passionate about its history and heritage, and the remastering of our flagship Queen Mary 2 has been an incredible way to bring this heritage to the 21st century. To be able to showcase this stunning remastering using the latest Virtual Reality technology is something we’re hugely excited about, and hopefully will bring the experience to life for agents and potential travellers revealing a little taste of the luxury to be enjoyed on board.”
