Agent bags £6k Fabergé pendant as Regent recruits new BDM team

A travel agent has won a Fabergé pendant worth more than £6,000 as part of a competition with Regent Seven Seas Cruises

The winner, Dan McMahon from Six Star Cruises, received the one-of-a-kind Colours of Love Rose Gold Diamond & Ruby ‘180’ Egg Pendant after he made a booking with the line for any 2024 sailing as part of a recent trade competition initiative.

“I am thrilled to have received this amazing prize, which came as a complete surprise,” McMahon said. “Seeing my name announced as the winner was truly shocking, and I feel incredibly grateful.”

It comes as the line rolls out a new travel partner programme designed to bolster its ties with agents, supported with the creation of a new business development team.

Reporting into Paul Beale, vice president of sales UK, the team will be led by director of strategic accounts and business development UK and Middle East Ed Lang with additional team members currently being recruited.

Regent to launch new trade training and marketing hub

The new hub, called Regent Elevate, represents the luxury line’s “dedication to empowering and investing” in agents centred around three “key pillars”: Elevated Insights, Elevated Support, and Elevated Growth.

“Our travel partners are integral to our success at Regent, so our priority is to ensure they have all the tools and skills they need to succeed,” said Caroline Smith, managing director international of Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

“Regent Elevate is our latest programme that we created with our travel partners in mind. Through Regent Elevate, our partners will have access to marketing insights, unrivalled sales support, and growth-enhancing opportunities.”

Elevated Insights will help the trade boost their luxury cruise business through training, market research and data to help target Regent guests, as well as guidance on a range of marketing disciplines from the line’s in-house experts.

This included RSSC University, a new online training programme featuring three levels of courses. Core courses give agents the key basics of the Regent brand, with completion of all resulting in “associate” status.

Elective courses details the support Regent can provide agents, and also what is offered outside of the core Regent product, for example land programmes. Students who complete Elective courses are rewarded with “batchelor” status.

New online tool ‘another milestone’ in Regent’s commitment to agents

Travel partners who complete Graduate courses attain “masters” status, having gained advance knowledge of the brand through courses about the The Regent Guest, Epicurean Perfection, Personalised Service, and Luxurious Space.

Agents who complete all three courses and make a new booking within 100 days of completion will be able to earn a £300 learning incentive.

“We are delighted to introduce our new RSSC University to our valued travel partners, this brand-new online tool marks another milestone in Regent’s commitment to providing more training, support and incentives to our valued travel partners as we aim to help grow their luxury cruise business,” said Beale.

Elevated Support, meanwhile, will offer sales and marketing tools, optimised marketing collateral, and a user-friendly online marketing asset portal, Marketing Central.

Elevated Growth will include trade-focussed incentives, promotional offers, and the line’s current wave initiative Upgrade Your Horizon which offers a two-category suite upgrade and low deposits.

The new additions come after the line appointed former Silversea Cruises Europe president Steve Odell as its new chief sales officer earlier this year.
